Dar Ul-Isra provides a range of religious and community services to support Muslims in Cardiff through all stages of life. All services are delivered with dignity, compassion, and in accordance with Islamic principles.

Nikah (Islamic Marriage)

Dar Ul-Isra offers nikah (Islamic marriage) services conducted by our imam in a dignified and welcoming setting. Whether you are planning a simple ceremony or a larger celebration, we are here to help you begin your journey together in accordance with the Sunnah.

Requirements

  • Both parties must consent freely to the marriage
  • A wali (guardian) must be present for the bride, or authorisation provided
  • Two adult Muslim male witnesses are required
  • An agreed-upon mahr (dowry) must be specified
  • Valid identification documents for both parties
  • If either party was previously married, proof of Islamic divorce (talaq) or dissolution is required

    Please note: An Islamic nikah is a religious ceremony. It does not constitute a legal marriage under UK law. Couples should also register their marriage at a registry office to ensure full legal recognition and protection.

    Janazah (Funeral Services)

    Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences we face. Dar Ul-Isra is here to support bereaved families through every step of the Islamic funeral process with care, dignity, and respect.

    What We Provide

    • Guidance on Islamic burial procedures
    • Janazah (funeral) prayer led by the imam
    • Support and advice for the bereaved family
    • Coordination with local Muslim burial grounds
    • Liaison with hospitals and funeral directors
    • Du’a and remembrance gatherings

    In the Event of a Death

    Please contact the mosque as soon as possible on 029 2034 4073. We will guide you through the necessary steps and help coordinate arrangements promptly. In Islam, burial should take place as soon as reasonably possible, and we will work with you to facilitate this. Feel free to book a space for remembrance gatherings at Dar Ul-Isra.

    Welsh Muslim Burial Service

    Welsh Muslim Burial Service is developed to help people prepare for death and,
    when there has been bereavement, arrange the funeral.

    The Welsh Muslim Burial Service can provide:
      • Advice and support regarding death and bereavement
      • Will writing service
      • Cost of funeral
      • Counselling
    Who can be part of the scheme?
      • Any Muslim can join the scheme

    New Muslim Support

    If you are interested in Islam or have recently embraced the faith, Dar Ul-Isra welcomes you warmly. We offer a supportive environment to help you on your journey, whether you are exploring Islam for the first time or looking for a community after taking your shahada.

    How We Can Help

    • Shahada (declaration of faith) ceremony in a welcoming setting
    • One-to-one guidance on the basics of Islamic practice (prayer, fasting, etc.)
    • Introduction to the local Muslim community

    Counselling & Welfare Support

    Dar Ul-Isra recognises that life can present difficult challenges. While we are not a professional counselling service, we can provide pastoral support and signpost you to appropriate local services.

    Certificates & Letters

    The mosque can issue certificates and letters for various purposes. Please allow reasonable time for processing and provide as much detail as possible with your request.

    • Nikah Certificate — Issued after the completion of an Islamic marriage ceremony at our mosque
    • Shahada Certificate — Issued to new Muslims who take their declaration of faith with us
    • Character Reference Letters — For community members in good standing (subject to imam’s discretion)
    • Confirmation of Worship Letters — For employers, educational institutions, or immigration purposes

    Volunteer at Dar Ul-Isra

    Volunteering is a core part of the Islamic tradition and pivitol to the running of our mosque. Dar Ul-Isra relies on the dedication, time, and generosity of community members to help run our services, maintain our facilities, and support those in need across Cardiff.

    Volunteer Opportunities We have a variety of roles to suit different skills and schedules, including:

    • Assisting with the weekly community food bank
    • Event management and stewarding during Friday prayers and Eid
    • Helping with youth activities and the Quran school
    • Mosque cleaning, upkeep, and general maintenance
    • Administrative support, IT, and social media assistance
    • Community outreach and welcoming visitors during open days
